i'm not sure why these are called "Glory of the Snow"
it suggests to me that they peak out of the last snows on the garden
but they never have here
and come much later than the snowdrops and crocus
which often do poke their brave heads above the frozen white.
But it is a sweet name
perhaps it has simply been shortened from
"Glory born of the snow"
much easier to wrap one's mouth around than its
official name when first learning Latin
but its "real" name has its own rhythm and music:
