We are in the greening
and amidst all the lovely daffs
and red-tipped tulip leaf spears
are the delicate, but surprisingly strong
remnants of last year's magnolia leaves
looking like tattered bits of an old lady's antimacassar
scattered about the garden

After i was finished making photographs of them
i picked them up
and put them in the car
where they road around with me for some time
before i could bring myself
to toss them back to earth.
