Yes
still in the Utah mountains.
i love the contrast of textures in this image.
some may argue that it would look better if i cropped out more of the background.
well, i chose to keep it in because i like the juxtaposition of intense up against
the out of focus, soft, flat light even though the sun was brilliant
of the background trees.
i like the incongruity
the softness running up against
the firey, crisp maple leaves and almost black branches.
i've never captured something like this before where
the captured light is low and high contrast in one frame
and all the better for it.
Don't worry, it's fine with me if it makes you shrug
or yawn.
This was literally caught on the fly...
i was driving home and saw this out of the passenger side window.
At the first wide spot in the road i hung a quick u-turn.
Thankfully
there were no other cars on the road
my window was down
the light was amazing.
i rammed the stiff clutch to the floor and braked the truck to a crawl
grabbed the camera and fired off 3 frames
and, managed to stay on the right side of the road!
then
i grabbed this framed image of the same tree a few yards further down the road:
I love the white and black branches. Like two performers on stage in the spotlight while the rest of the cast is in the background.
