there are a few pockets in the mountains of this Utah valley
where autumn colors appear and catch the breath.
The aspens higher on the face of the mountain are yellow
but down here, the maples sing out.
i'm not sure what the yellow trees are, here
i could not get close to one to see
and my weakness is the names of trees
which is odd
since they mean so much to me.
i felt a tad guilty while driving this road alone
because back down in the valley everyone was
bustling about preparing for the wedding party.
But it seemed like everything was under control for those few hours
and i chose to remember that "my best boy"
(one of the many endearments heaped upon his fair head)
who is now a man and has been for many good years
will consider these images a gift.
He has his father's heart
and then some.
i am proud to nearly bursting
to report that he is the kindest, most gentle
and caring man i have been blessed to know.
So, here you are, dear Jon
i know you will remember the time we drove this road together
i know that it may be awhile before you see these
but that when you do, you will love knowing i caught them just for you.
Ah, I love you Vick.
I do remember that day in up Provo Canyon, lots of aspens if I recall correctly.
I love the yellow splotches in the bottom, love this photo, love the abstract, randomness of nature, some rusty orange here, some dark red, some yellow, love it.
