yes, i love a huge, lucious strawberry
as much as the next person (and
gratefully the pick-your-own strawberry farm
down the road now sells freshly picked
baskets of them as well because there is
absolutely no way i would go out in this humidity
to pick them myself. God bless the farmers
and farmer's kids who will and do! and
i gladly pay whatever they ask)
but
these tiny gems--the photo is larger than life,
in reality the fruits are no bigger than
the end of my pinky-- are fabulous! so full of
flavor they never make inside; i just
stand there and eat them as i pick them.
and the fruits keep coming all summer. sadly
the plants do not last long in my garden and
i have to keep replacing them. the humidity
is probably to blame for whatever disease
it is that takes them away.
