pretty soon...
spring, sprung!

home again, home again

Last week
i got on a plane and flew many, many miles west
where there is much snow on the favorite mountains.

The next day
as the morning broke

Timp the morning breaks

we climbed into the car and drove for half a day south
deeper into the desert
to visit our other sister
where it was balmy
and little narcissus were in full flower

i believe this little daffodil is the double form of 'Chinese sacred lily'

Two days later
we drove back
up into the mountains
where the evening air was chilly
yet soft

then stood in security lines once more
and flew home.
Two days later
i got in the car and spent the weekend at Greenwood
where there was gentle rain all day Saturday
and the little cluster of coral bark maples
were wearing their pearls

Coral bark 7

Coral bark 5

the older bark
takes on an almost golden hue in patches

Coral bark 9

but it's those brilliant young stems
that arrest and make one marvel

the photos really are best viewed larger. just click on one to open it in a new, bigger window

i do love being home
and, yet...
oh, that we did not live so far apart
